The sun was shining brighter today when I read the news on Michael Rosen's newly appointed role as Children's Laureate - putting him in the same ranks as my favourite illustrator, Quentin Blake. I hope with this article, Malaysian bookstores will actually sit up and start expanding and promoting their current paltry selection of children books, apart from focusing on the money-generating New York bestseller hits that floods almost every shelf. Whoever said reading was a thing for the geeks and mundane has probably never chanced upon such great literary works. There are hidden treasures in bookstores should you be interested to explore the very depths of it and two particular bookstores in KL springs to mind - MPH Bookstores, Mid Valley outlet and Kinokuniya.
I find new reasons to be excited when I get to know about an interesting book or author out there. I hope more folks will start picking up a children's book and learn to appreciate not only the literary aspect but also the beautiful illustrations that comes with it.
