pooped.

I'm pooped for the day. Been working so much for the whole week and I'm so glad it's Friday 5.13pm now. But rest won't come till Saturday 1pm. While you laze on Saturday mornings, I still have to slog it out at work. Man, my table is so messy. Folders, manuscripts stacked all over my work desk. I'm even taking up the desk space behind and next to me.
Man, I have to layan publishers and authors all day, I'm determined to publish my own book some day. I've got a topic to write about, it's going to be a memoir. A true emotional life story of my
ah ma and
mommy. Hmm, I hope it hits the top 10 readers' list for 8 consecutive weeks. That's why I
try to keep in touch with as many people as possible.
True friends will support me eh? At least let me kembang a bit in my maiden writing attempt. *smug* Once that's done, I'll start with writing children's books. Hmm, it's more fun than writing something like, say
Gender and Work-Life Flexibility in the Work Force. *huh?*
Feeling the stress in my bones. If only someone can massage my back while I fall asleep tonight. My eyes feel like they're gonna drop out of the sockets anytime. Brains over baked.
...
Hmm, I wonder if I'm too old to learn the art of
'Geisha'?
the piglet.

peegley deegley poogley doo,
was found drinking from the loo.
caught him by the hoof,
when he escaped to the roof.
kicked his butt good,
with my right foot!
such bumbling mischief,
wrapped him in my red 'kerchief
held him at his waist
salt on tail for taste
oh, how he wail,
when his wiggly tail
got roasted
and toasted
to crispy crisp
smoking with wisp.
oh yummy yummy
filling to my tummy.

Joshua Kadison - Beautiful in My Eyes.
**
You're my peace of mind in this crazy world.
You're everything I've tried to find, your love is a pearl.
You're my Mona Lisa, you're my rainbow skies,
and my only prayer is that you realize
you'll always be beautiful in my eyes.
The world will turn and the seasons will change,
and all the lessons we will learn will be beautiful and strange.
We'll have our fill of tears, our share of sighs.
My only prayer is that you realize
you'll always be beautiful in my eyes.
You will always be beautiful in my eyes.
And the passing years will show
that you will always grow more beautiful in my eyes.
When there are lines upon my face form a lifetime of smiles,
and when the time comes to embrace for one long last while,
we can laugh about how time really flies.
We won't say goodbye 'cause true love never dies.
You'll always be beautiful in my eyes.

I think this is a very beautiful song. Wedding playlist - song #2. *grins*
Lucky day.
Thursday, October 14, 2004
Today must be my lucky day. I met lady luck on my way to work today.
Sat at my workspace, started work for the day, worked for an hour and smelt something funny. I didn't shower this morning, or on any other mornings before going to work and no, I don't stink... I just smell like me after I wake up, you know.. the bed smell. Anyway, I figured the smell didn't come from me, so I turn over my shoes (oh, I change into my pink Bata slippers when I'm at work, which I think used to belong to my grammy, so that I can shuffle around office without spoiling the soles of my nice shoes. Bata soles withstand friction very well)
And there it was! The stinky dog poo, all nicely squashed and sticking ever so firmly on the left sole of my shoe. Had to scrub it clean in the bathroom and eww, I can't seem to wash it off completely! Oh well, at least I have a new smell this morning.
I think I might have to patent this smell, who knows one day I'll be famous and I'll have my own line of dog poo fragrance. Of course it's not for us humans (I ain't that insane) but for the doggies. Well you never know what you can do with strange inventions. I might even receive a
Ig Nobel Prize. *smug*

Went for the pre-launch of the new
Toyota Avanza in the stiffling heat and sardined packed with kiasu prospective and non-prospective buyers at KLGCC. (Non prospective buyers like me, who decided to tag along with loaded friends to catch a glimpse of a car that I wasn't even aware existed!)
The seven-seater Avanza is powered by a 1.3-litre VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing-Intelligent) 16-valve DOHC (Dual Overhead Camshaft) engine – producing a healthy 89PS, peaking at 6,000rpm and generating 120Nm of torque at 3,200rpm. Woah! That's quite a dosh of motor speak garble I just copied from somewhere... hah! proving that I'm the whatever–
lah type, not the specs type of a car driver.
Quite affordable (RM55–60k) for the chic and slick urban family and we're not even talking about having this as the main car. It's for the mom who needs to ferry the kids to school and to ice hockey practices.
You know what I noticed during the whole event? That people are getting more inconsiderate with the rising level of income. Walking on the curb, I saw a brown paper bag with the food contents all spilled out. Apparently someone dropped it and didn't bother to pick it up and dispose it off properly. I was just thinking, what a waste of food. And worse, what horrible manners. Were they expecting the stray dogs to come munch them up? Even worse, no passer by bothered to bend over to pick up the mess. Everyone gingerly crossed over the hotdog and sighed, 'What a waste!'.
I didn't pick up the mess because:
1. I didn't do it.
2. I didn't want to dirty my already sweaty dirty hands.
3. I didn't want to walk the extra few steps to the bin.
4. I didn't care.
Somehow... I feel ugh about myself.
Anyway, back to the
Avanza. Looks cool for a MPV. Chic. Good price. Performance wise, I wouldn't know a thing. But it's a Toyota. Any car that has a Japanese/Korean/German name tagged to it is a good investment. At least if you compare it with local ones.
I'm not into cars at the moment. Maybe it's because I'm so financially strained to even afford a two wheels
sans motor means of transportation. That's what I plan to get first though, a racer. And if it doesn't come in pink, I'll make sure I'll paint it pink. And besides, who needs a car when I have a willing driver to 'chauffer' me around. FOC too btw. Ah the good life! *shrugs*
Piggy bank.
Monday, October 04, 2004
Off late, I realized I need to have some sort of fixed savings. And since I'm approaching adulthood, it's not too late to start a savings plan.
Points taken into consideration:
1. Minimum deposit is rm10 cents, no maximum limit.
2. Any withdrawals are discouraged unless hunger pang strikes!
3. All paper work for deposit/withdrawal is unnecessary. I love trees.
4. Interest rates are negotiable anytime.
And so last week, I opened a new piggy bank called the 'Bubu truck'. It's red with four wheels and makes a clanky noise when you run it over the wheels. Only rm10 cents are allowed for deposit. It's kept in a safe place and well guarded by a 18" pint-sized superhero (but strong, no doubt) with 67 points of articulation. What robber will even want to fight this superdude, eh?
And one day when my Bubu truck is filled to the brim, I'll buy meself a duplex! *smug*
