When I was just a kid, I remember being very fascinated with chicks hatching out of eggs. I knew for a fact that you need to keep the egg warm continuously for a certain period of time in order for it to hatch. So began my very first attempt of hatching an egg.
First I figured, putting the egg in a microwave wouldn't be a good idea because the heat would be too intense. I couldn't find a hen to do the job either. So I settled for the second best option. I sat on the egg. Well, not exactly sit on it but my butt was hovering over the egg which I placed on a cushion. Of course I asked for mom's permission first which she gave. Funny that no one told me it wouldn't work. Everyone must be laughing at my silly attempt. I remember being very frustrated because the egg wouldn't hatch after many days of 'sitting' on it. Of course I figured out the reason years later. (:
A child's innocence and pure curiosity. It's amazing what you can discover at an early age.
It's Easter Sunday tomorrow. And eggs are used in symbolism to the occasion. There's a lot of history and commercialism about Easter eggs. But just to keep things simple, I think eggs and baby chicks represent a new beginning, a new hope.
From an egg springs forth new life. This is what Easter is about too. God's son who was crucified on Good Friday and three days later rose from the dead on Easter Sunday. Jesus is Hope for mankind.
I remember a hymn I used to sing in church.
chorusCrucified
Laid behind the stone
You lived to die
Rejected and alone
Like a rose
Trampled on the ground
You took the fall
And thought of me
Above all
*Happy Easter!*
